Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA, APR. 8, 2005 — After running P2 most of the morning session, Chris Dyson was eighth in this afternoon`s preliminary qualifying session on the streets of Long Beach for the first race of this year`s Toyota Atlantic Championship. Chris commented, “This is my first time at Long Beach and the first time at a street course in a Toyota Atlantic car. I was really just learning the track this morning and the guys were getting on the radio and saying that we were trading P1 with the lead guys. That was not too bad for our first session here.”

Chris Dyson and the #16 Thetford/Norcold Swift 014.a could not get a clear lap in the afternoon`s session. “The session was disjointed and we ended up getting caught on the short end of the stick. It seemed like every time we were putting a good lap together, there were guys parked in every corner and the red would wave. We proved this morning that we can go quickly when we have a clear lap. It is an excellent street course with good long straights and lots of passing zones. It is a good layout with a nice flow to it.”

“We tested at a track in Pahrump which is 55 miles west of Las Vegas, before coming here,” said Chris. “It is a decent track and correlated well to what we are doing here this weekend. It was a fruitful day of testing and that helps in that you do not get a lot of time to make changes during the Toyota Atlantic sessions. I think we got a pretty good cook book to make some changes overnight and hopefully improve tomorrow morning.”
